Turkey for You, Tofurky for Me

Image

Sorry for making everyone wait so long for a post again! I’ve been so busy working on getting the rest of my holiday inventory. SO Thanksgiving is here again! Even though I am a vegetarian, I still get excited about the holiday for many reasons: 1) I LOVE pumpkin and mashed potatoes 2) My birthday always falls within a week from Thanksgiving 3) When I was little, the passing of Thanksgiving meant it was time to bring the Christmas decorations out of the attic! So needless to say, I’m getting pretty anxious. However, like most people (especially women), something I enjoy almost as much as the smell of a warm pumpkin pie is what comes after- Black Friday! I must admit part of it’s probably really just about the adrenaline rush, but being as my mother was the Coupon Queen before coupon-ing was even cool the other part is just loving a kick-ass deal! So I’m pretty sale happy come time for the holidays and I know I’m not the only one. Lucky for you, that means I’ll be hosting a lot of holiday sales in the shop ( zoeamaris.etsy.com ). And I promise to keep up with my blog posting through the end of the year, even if it’s only to keep you informed of the upcoming sales. I’ll be posting sometime in the next few days to announce my Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals so be sure to stay tuned!

Cheers,

Zoe

Victorian Flower Basket Pin Cushions

I had a ton of these little baskets from a left over project and knew they’d be perfect for this! I made a few of these the other night and I absolutely love them. I used  bird gravel for the stuffing which made these nice and heavy.  Used some of my old lace scraps, one of those fabric circles, and one of my lovely antique buttons. I’ll keep you updated as I work on some other styles!

Repurposed, Victorian Pincushions: The Fabric

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! I’ve been so very busy but I’ve finally brought you an update on the pin cushions. I’ve just gotten a huge lot of vintage fabric circle scraps and have listed some in the shop as well. There’s tons of beautiful patterns and I can’t wait to get to work! I’ll be picking up some stuffing later this week and hope to be posting another update soon after. Have a lovely week everyone!

How to Make Nostalgic Vintage Bingo Card Tags

How to Make Nostalgic Vintage Bingo Card Tags

It has recently been brought to my attention that there are not a lot of good, easy-to-find sources for inspiring projects using vintage ephemera. So I’ve decided to take it upon myself to bring you a new idea featuring a different ephemera item every 1-2 weeks! After all, even the most creative of us require a little inspiration every once in a while.

Today I whipped up these little tags in about 30 minutes using items I already had around the studio.

I took an antique bingo card (available at https://www.etsy.com/listing/103357353/antique-bingo-card-nostalgic-lot) and cut it in half each way, leaving four approximately equal rectangles.
I then took each piece and decorated it differently. Ta-da. It really is that easy!
From Left to Right: #1 I used Mod Podge, an old recipe, and an old button. #2 Mod Podge, an antique stamp, and antique french Monogram trim. #3 Green watercolor paint, Mod Podge seal, and stars punched from an old playing card. #4 Black glitter glue and red water color paint.
I punched each with my 1/8″ hole punch and tied them with awesome sari ribbon. I stuck with a Christmas theme because you can never have too many Christmas tags on hand!

Stay tuned for more from inside the studio and check out my shop’s latest goodies at http://www.zoeamaris.etsy.com
